Our ability to comprehend the systems we are constructing is our greatest limitation while programming software. The more complicated a program is, and the more people who work on it, the more difficult it is to administer.

We can deal with complexity with the help of good development tools. However, there is a limit to what we can achieve only through the use of tools. We can construct larger and more powerful systems with simpler designs before complexity overwhelms us.
